CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — Voters in parts of Cabarrus County will help choose a state senator for North Carolina Senate District 35 in the upcoming election. The district also takes in part of neighboring Union County.
The race is between Todd Johnson, the Republican nominee, and Christine E. Winward, the Democratic nominee.
A candidate guide was prepared for the contest, and each candidate was sent a questionnaire. Neither Johnson nor Winward had answered it as of the guide's publication on October 15, 2026.
The guide's publisher said it would add responses to the guide if either candidate sends them in later.
