I-85 accidents and traffic today in Cabarrus County

Crashes, lane closures and road work across Cabarrus County, newest first. I-85 crosses the county from Harrisburg and the Speedway area through the Concord Mills and Concord exits to Kannapolis, and most of our traffic posts are there, along with US-29, NC-49 and NC-73. Traffic posts come from NCDOT; crash posts from scanner traffic are unconfirmed.

Cabarrus trouble spots

  • I-85, Exits 48–60 From I-485 (Exit 48) past Concord Mills and the Speedway (Exit 49), Poplar Tent Rd (Exit 52), Kannapolis Pkwy (Exit 54), NC-73 (Exit 55), US-29/601 (Exit 58) and Dale Earnhardt Blvd (Exit 60). Expect backups at Concord Mills on weekends and race days.
  • US-29 / Concord Pkwy Busy from Charlotte Motor Speedway to downtown Concord and on to Kannapolis.
  • NC-49 Harrisburg to Concord, with heavy commuter traffic toward UNC Charlotte.
  • NC-73 / Davidson Hwy Huntersville to Concord and Mount Pleasant; slow near I-85.
  • Race weekends Expect closures and one-way patterns around Charlotte Motor Speedway and zMAX Dragway.
