This policy explains what information Cabarrus Insider (“we”), a North Carolina business, collects through cabarrusinsider.com, our email newsletter and our text alert program, and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Newsletter: your email address and the towns you choose.
- Text alerts: your mobile number, the towns you choose, your consent record (time and wording), and subscription status. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Tips and inquiries: the message you send and any contact details you choose to include.
- Usage data: standard server logs and privacy-respecting analytics (pages viewed, referring site such as Facebook, approximate location by city, device type).
How we use it
- To send the newsletter and text alerts you asked for, and service messages about them.
- To process payments, cancellations and refunds.
- To review tips and follow up if you asked us to.
- To understand which content is useful and keep the site working and secure.
How we share it
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the service (for example: website hosting, our email provider, our text messaging provider, and Stripe for payments), under agreements that limit their use to providing services to us, or when required by law.
Mobile numbers and text opt-in data and consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
News content about incidents
Our posts are based on public radio traffic and public records. We do not publish names of people involved in incidents, mugshots, or house numbers. To request a correction or review of a post, email hello@cabarrusinsider.com or see our corrections policy.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from email with the link in any email.
- Stop texts by replying STOP. See SMS terms.
- Ask us to access or delete your information by emailing hello@cabarrusinsider.com.
Retention and security
We keep subscriber information while your subscription is active and for a limited time afterward for billing, consent-record and legal purposes. We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure.
Children
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
