Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, especially early reports from scanner traffic. When we do, we fix it fast and say so.

Our policy

• We fix errors within the hour of learning about them, around the clock.
• Corrected posts carry a visible “Corrected” note with the time and what changed. The fix reaches every channel where the post appeared: this site, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, email and texts.
• Posts that should not have been published are removed everywhere. Their web address returns “gone” so search engines drop them, and we log the removal.
• Minor typo fixes that don't change meaning may be made without a note.
• When a story develops (an arrest is dismissed, a missing person is found), we post a follow-up and link it from the original post.

Arrest posts and free removal

We report arrests only from official law enforcement news releases, never from booking lists, and never with a mugshot. Charges are accusations; everyone is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

If a post is about you and the charges were dismissed, you were acquitted, or the record was expunged, we'll update it with a dated note or remove it. We never charge to remove or update a post. Request an update or removal.
