CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — Students from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College brought home national top-10 finishes, two chapter awards and a national office at the Future Business Leaders of America Collegiate National Leadership Conference. The event ran June 6-8 in Nevada and drew more than 1,300 attendees from nearly 200 colleges and universities in 29 states and territories.
Keydra Oglesby placed eighth in Foundations of Hospitality Management, and Randi "June" Goodman-Godwin placed 10th in Foundations of Communication. Noah Singer tied for first in the GooseChase Challenge, a mobile app competition in which attendees earned points by completing missions during the conference.
The college's FBLA Collegiate chapter received the Hollis and Kitty Guy Gold Seal Chapter of Merit Award, for which each state can nominate only a limited number of chapters. It was also named an Outstanding Chapter, a designation based on membership growth, professional development, community service and competition.
Colin Williams was elected national executive vice president for 2026-2027, his second straight year in national office. He finished terms as North Carolina FBLA Collegiate state president and national vice president of operations, and received the state's Who's Who in FBLA award.
"Our students truly made their mark through their talent, leadership and commitment," said Rowan-Cabarrus President Dr. Carol S. Spalding.
Other Rowan-Cabarrus students competed in dozens of events across the 42 offered, including accounting, marketing, management, public speaking and project management.
